If you already hold USDC on Ethereum and need USDC on Base, a cross-chain route is the relevant problem. If you hold ETH and want USDC on the same network, a swap is usually the more direct action.
What to compare
Some cross-chain routes include swaps because the most efficient bridge path may require an intermediate asset. That does not make every bridge route equivalent to using a centralized exchange.
